Jonas Carls loaned to Viktoria Köln

Left back Jonas Carls has signed for third-division side Viktoria Köln on loan until the end of the season. The 22-year-old’s contract at Schalke will run until 30th June 2022.

“Jonas has conducted himself in a professional manner over the last few weeks and months, even if he hasn’t played for our first team,” commented Head of Sport Jochen Schneider. “We all hope that he can gain some vital match practice with this move to Viktoria Köln.”

Carls joined Schalke’s U23s in the summer of 2017 from 1. FC Nürnberg. He signed a professional contract with the Royal Blues in May 2019 after making his Bundesliga debut in the 5-2 defeat to Hoffenheim in April. Carls has also featured in 12 Regionalliga games for the U23s this season.
