Kenan Karaman named FC Schalke 04’s new captain

On Thursday morning (11/7), head coach Karel Geraerts announced the club's new captain and team council for the new season.

Head coach Karel Geraerts explained: “Kenan led from the front with his performances last season and took on lots of responsibility. His teammates respect and listen to what he has to say. His vice-captains, Paul and Tomas, are also key performers.”

The other members of the team council are Michael Langer, Ron Schallenberg and Amin Younes.

“The team council is important to me. The aim is to guide the group successfully through the season as a unit,” said Geraerts. “It’s important that every single player takes on responsibility, even if they’re not a captain or part of the team council. Everyone needs to do this if we’re going to be successful. I’m looking forward to the future.”
