Kenan Karaman signs new contract at Schalke
Kenan Karaman has signed a new contract at FC Schalke 04. The forward has put pen to paper on a deal until 30th June 2028. Karaman scored 14 goals and provided nine assists in 31 competitive games last season.
“Kenan’s decision to stay at Schalke is great news! His incredible performances have led to interest from a lot of clubs in Germany and abroad, including many first-division sides. That makes us even happier that he’s decided to continue his journey auf Schalke,” said sporting director Marc Wilmots on behalf of the management. “Kenan is the kind of leader that we want in the team. He leads by example with his performances and makes himself heard when it’s necessary to help the team. His teammates respect that.”

Kenan Karaman himself is also looking forward to continuing his time at the VELTINS-Arena. “I’m very happy to have extended my contract with Schalke on a long-term basis. I’ve developed a special relationship with the club and the fans over the two years I’ve been here. Schalke were always my first port of call during this process, I’ve made that very clear. I’d especially like to thank Ben, Marc, the board, and of course our head coach for our positive discussions and the faith they’ve placed in me with this new contract. Together with our new-look team, I want to continue in the direction we’re heading and drive the club forward over the coming seasons. I’m looking forward to the next few years!”
Born in Stuttgart, Karaman made his Bundesliga debut for TSG 1899 Hoffenheim on 2nd March 2014. Prior to joining the Sinsheim club at the age of 15, he had played in his hometown for MTV, VfB and Kickers. Karaman left Hoffenheim after four further appearances and joined Hannover 96, where he spent four seasons before moving on to Fortuna Düsseldorf. He also spent time at Besiktas en route to S04, where he gained experience in the Champions League.
Karaman represents Türkiye at international level and featured at the delayed European Championship in 2021, playing in each of their games at the tournament. He has scored 6 goals in his 31 caps so far.
