Kerim Calhanoglu moves to SpVgg Greuther Fürth

Kerim Calhanoglu will move to second-division side Greuther Fürth ahead of the 2023/24 season. The 20-year-old spent the majority of last season on loan at SV Sandhausen. Details of the contract will remain undisclosed.

“We’re pleased to have been able to accompany Kerim on his way to becoming a professional footballer at Schalke. For all parties involved, it was clear that regular match practice would be important in order to ensure his continued development, which is why this move is the right step,” said sporting director André Hechelmann. “We wish Kerim all the best for the future, both personally and professionally.”

The left-back joined the S04 U19s in summer 2020 from TSG Hoffenheim. He featured three times in the Bundesliga last season and once for the U23s. Calhanoglu scored once and provided three assists for the reserves in the Regionalliga, before joining SV Sandhausen on loan during the winter break.
