Leo Greiml ruled out with long-term knee injury

FC Schalke 04 will be without for Leo Greiml for the coming months. The centre-back was taken off early on in the friendly against Twente on Saturday (22/7) and scans have now confirmed the damage.

An MRI scan in Buer has shown that the Austrian has torn the ACL in his right knee. Greiml will have more scans to fully determine how long he will be out for.

“This injury is incredibly gutting for Leo. He had been really solid throughout the whole of pre-season. We are massively upset for him after this huge setback,” said sporting director André Hechelmann. “We will give Leo all the support he needs to find his way back into the team.”

FC Schalke 04 wish Leo a speedy recovery!
