„Marius Bülter will offer us another option in attack,“ said sporting director Rouven Schröder. „He is a very dynamic and physical player, who poses a threat in front of goal. In addition to his qualities on the pitch, his character is also a perfect fit to our new-look Schalke. We are very happy that Marius will be wearing Royal Blue from now on.“

The Ibbenbüren native is looking forward to getting started. „I’m very happy that I’ll be joining up with the team for training camp in Mittersill and that I’ll be able to take part in this crucial part of pre-season with my new team,“ said Bülter. „There are some really good players here and we will use these next weeks to prepare for the opening game of the season against Hamburger SV.“

The 1.88m tall attacker had a breakthrough season in 2017/18, scoring 20 goals in 30 games for Regionalliga side SV Rödinghausen and drawing the attention of SC Magdeburg. Bülter was involved in eight goals in 32 Bundesliga 2 games with Magdeburg. In summer 2019, he moved to newly-promoted Bundesliga side Union Berlin and went on to score seven goals in 32 games in his debut top-flight season. In 2020/21, Bülter and Union ended the season in seventh place, qualifying for the newly-created UEFA Conference League.
