Mark Uth goes on loan to FC Köln
Mark Uth will play for FC Köln in the second half of the Bundesliga season. FC Schalke 04 agreed a loan deal for the 28 year old until the end of the season with FC Köln on Friday (3rd January). The forward’s contract with the Royal Blues runs until 30th June 2022.
“Mark didn’t have an easy 2019, especially with regard to injuries. He now wants to get as much time on the pitch as possible,” says sporting director Jochen Schneider. “Since FC Köln are searching for a player in his preferred position, he came to us with the request to play at Köln. Hence we agreed to a loan until the end of the season.”
Uth joined FC Schalke 04 on a free transfer from TSG Hoffenheim ahead of the 2018/19 season. Since then, he has made 28 Bundesliga appearances (2 goals), five Europa League appearances (1 goal) and five DFB-Pokal appearances (1 goal). Uth previously represented FC Köln at youth level and played for the U23 team (2004-07 and 2010-12).
