Marvin Pieringer departs Schalke to join 1. FC Heidenheim

Striker Marvin Pieringer has left FC Schalke 04 a year before the end of his contract to join newly promoted Bundesliga side 1. FC Heidenheim. Both clubs have agreed that the transfer details will remain undisclosed. The attacker spent last season on loan at SC Paderborn 07.

“Marvin’s performances at Paderborn were impressive enough to earn him the chance to play in the Bundesliga. He came to us and said that he wanted to take this opportunity,” reported sporting director André Hechelmann. “We came to an agreement with Heidenheim, one that is good for all parties. We would like to wish Marvin all the best for the future.”

Pieringer came through SSV Reutlingen’s youth academy. After two and a half years with SC Freiburg’s reserves, including a six-month loan spell at Würzburger Kickers, he initially signed on loan for FC Schalke 04 in summer 2021. He scored two goals and recorded two assists in 26 competitive games for the Royal Blues.
