Matthew Hoppe back to individual training
Matthew Hoppe returned to training on Tuesday 17th August, initially taking part in an individual session with fitness and recovery coach Michael Schwerhoff. The 20-year-old will return to team training soon. The striker’s return to the team following his participation in the CONCACAF Gold Cup was delayed because of a recent bout of stomach flu.

The Gold Cup, a continental competition made up of the best national sides from North America, Central America and the Caribbean, was a successful tournament for Hoppe, as he started five out of the seven games for the USA. His quarterfinal goal and Man of the Match performance vs. Jamaica sealed his nation’s place in the semis. The Royal Blue attacker was named in the starting line-up for USA’s 1-0 (a.e.t.) victory over Mexico in the final, as he was substituted just seconds before full-time.
