Mauro Zalazar moves to FC Schalke 04

Youngster Mauro Zalazar has joined FC Schalke 04 from Spanish side FC Granada. The 19-year-old midfielder has signed a contract valid until 30th June 2028 with the Knappen and will wear the number 16 shirt. Both clubs have agreed to keep the transfer details undisclosed.

“We see Mauro as a really interesting player for the coming years – Ben has known him for a while now. We’re pleased to now be able to work on his development here auf Schalke,” said sporting director Marc Wilmots on behalf of the sporting management. “Regardless of Mauro’s surname and the expectations that come with it, we want to give him the chance to develop step-by-step here at Schalke. He should – and we believe he will – write his own story.”
