Mehmet Can Aydin extends contract until 2025

Mehmet Can Aydin is to remain a Royal Blue after extending his contract with Schalke 04 until 30th June 2025. His current deal was set to expire at the end of the 2021/2022 season.

“Memo has proved in the last few months that he can be an important part of our squad and he has rightfully made the step up from the youth academy to the first team. Given his huge potential and room for development as a player, we’re very glad that he has committed his future to Schalke,” commented sporting director Rouwen Schröder. “What’s now important is that he continues to work hard and does so in an enthusiastic, motivated manner.”

The wide player joined Schalke’s youth academy from Borussia Mönchengladbach in 2014. The 19-year-old played for several of the Knappenschmiede’s youth teams before making the step up to the first team during the 2020/2021 season. He’s made 14 appearances this season, including seven starts. He’s also registered his first assist and scored for the first time in professional football.
