Levent Mercan joins Fatih Karagümrük SK on a permanent basis

Levent Mercan has left FC Schalke 04 to join Fatih Karagümrük SK, the club at which the 21-year-old midfielder spent the previous season, on a permanent basis. All parties have agreed not to disclose further details about the transfer.

“Levo is a young player who took his chance in the Süper Lig last season. A permanent deal with Fatih Karagümrük SK is the best option for all parties, because it would have been difficult for him to get much game time at FC Schalke 04,” explained sporting director Rouven Schröder. “We’d like to wish Levo all the best for the future.”

Levent Mercan joined Schalke 04 from Rot-Weiss Essen’s U17s in summer 2016, and he made the jump from our U19s to the first team just three years later, making his Bundesliga debut in a 0-0 draw against Borussia Mönchengladbach on 17th August 2019. Mercan went on to make five further Bundesliga appearances. So far, he’s made 18 appearances for Fatih Karagümrük SK in the Turkish first division, and played four times in domestic cup competitions, scoring one goal in the 22 matches.
