Mika Khadr signs professional deal

FC Schalke 04 have signed a long-term professional contract with academy defender Mika Khadr which runs until 30th June 2028. The 18-year-old has featured in 15 games for the club’s U19s this season, as well as making his debut in the Regionalliga West for the U23s and getting a taste of first-team football in a friendly against Alemannia Aachen.

“Thanks to the excellent academy training he has received in the Knappenschmiede, Mika has all the physical and technical attributes you would want from a promising, young centre-back. He also has a real desire to improve with every day,” said Ben Manga, director of squad planning, scouting and the Knappenschmiede youth academy. “Over the coming years, we want to give Mika the opportunity to continue to develop and become the best player he can be.”

I have learnt a lot at Schalke over the past years and want to continue that journey.

Khadr is delighted to pen to paper on a professional deal with the club: “I have learnt a lot at Schalke over the past years and want to continue that journey. I would like to thank the management for putting their faith in me and am looking forward to continuing to develop here in the coming years.”

Mika Khadr began his youth career with KSV Baunatal, before joining Hessen Kassel in 2019. Two years later, he made the switch to FC Carl Zeiss Jena, followed by a move to the Knappenschmiede in 2022. Khadr won the U17 western division with the Royal Blues and reached the semi-finals of the German Championship.
