Mike Büskens to miss the Ingolstadt game

FC Schalke 04 will be without interim head coach Mike Büskens on Sunday (13/3) for the away game at Ingolstadt. The 53-year-old has to remain in quarantine at home after testing positive for Covid-19 last week. He had hoped to make the game by testing negative in time.

Assistant coach Matthias Kreutzer will lead the team for the clash in the south of Germany. Kreutzer has already taken training over the past few days in Büskens’ absence. He will be supported by former S04 player Tim Hoogland, currently part of the U17s coaching team. Gerald Asamoah and other coaches will be involved too.

Büskens will remain in contact with his coaching colleagues and the players digitally before the game, whilst he will be connected to match analyst Lars Gerling during the 90 minutes.

PCR test confirms Latza infection

Danny Latza will also miss out on the trip to Ingolstadt. The Schalke captain is also isolating due to a Covid-19 infection. A PCR test has now confirmed the original positive result from a rapid test.

All other tests for the first-team players and staff members came back negative. Everyone involved is required to test daily, and that includes all members of the first-team setup, regardless of whether or not they are vaccinated or have recovered from an infection previously.
