Attacker Moussa Sylla signs for Schalke

Rapid forward Moussa Sylla has joined the Royal Blues from French second-division side Pau FC with immediate effect. The 24-year-old signed a long-term contract valid until 30th June 2028 on Monday (24/6).

“With Moussa deciding to join us, we’ve gained the services of a striker with explosive pace, one that loves to get in behind and is generally just tricky to defend,” explained Marc Wilmots on behalf of the sporting management. “We see him as a potential key player, and his pace and agility will particularly help us when we have possession.”

Moussa Sylla said: “I’m very happy to have signed a contract here. It’s a huge chance for me to move to a new country and show my qualities at a big club like Schalke. I’m really excited to be part of the team and play in front of the fans.”

The 5’11” forward spent last season on loan at Pau FC in Ligue 2, scoring 15 goals and setting up a further seven. He made his debut for Mali earlier this month, and will receive additional days off before his first S04 training session due to his international commitments.

Before declaring for Mali, Sylla played 22 games for France at various youth levels. He also has experience at the very highest level of club football, featuring six times for AS Monaco in the 2018/19 Champions League.
