“Moving to play in the 2. Bundesliga in Germany feels like the right move for me at this stage in my career. The conversations were really good with the club. I’m really happy the deal is done and I’m now an FC Schalke 04 player. I will give my best for the team,” said Pape Meïssa Ba, Schalke’s new number 10.

Ba moved to France in the winter of 2019 from Senegal and initially played for ESTAC Troyes’ reserves, before moving up to their first team in the second division in summer 2019. He joined fellow Ligue 2 side Red Star FC in 2021 and scored 27 goals in 52 competitive games for the Paris-based club. Grenoble Foot completed the signing of Ba in summer 2022 and he went on to score 26 times for them across 95 league and cup matches.
