Polter suffers suspected cruciate ligament injury

Sebastian Polter unfortunately looks set for a lengthy spell on the sidelines. An MRI scan has shown that the 31-year-old suffered a suspected cruciate ligament injury in his right knee in yesterday’s 2-2 draw with FC Zürich.

The striker went off injured in the first half of yesterday’s friendly and was tested further by team doctor Patrick Ingelfinger. He will fly back to Germany on Sunday for further examinations.

“First and foremost, I would like to wish Polti a speedy recovery. We will give him all the support he needs in order to get him back on the pitch. Over the next few days, we will analyse the impact that Polti’s absence will have on our plans for the rest of the season,” explained Peter Knäbel, board member for sport and communication.
