Possible Covid infection: Peter Knäbel in quarantine
Peter Knäbel, board member for sport and communication, has tested positive for Covid-19 following a routine rapid test on Friday (3/12). Upon receiving the result, the 55-year-old entered quarantine as a precaution. Knäbel is fully vaccinated and asymptomatic.
In order to confirm the result, Knäbel took a PCR test on Friday. The result of this test has yet to come back, and is expected by Saturday afternoon at the latest. Knäbel has not been in contact with any member of the Schalke first team in recent days. Rapid tests were conducted on all players and members of staff today, and have all come back negative.
In addition to mandating that all employees be either fully vaccinated, recovered or tested, FC Schalke 04 have also made testing mandatory for all employees that cannot work from home. This applies to all employees, regardless of whether they are vaccinated or recovered. Members of the first team and the backroom staff undergo daily rapid testing.
