Rabbi Matondo joins Glasgow Rangers

Rabbi Matondo has left the Royal Blues. The attacker, who spent last season on loan at Belgian side Cercle Brugge, has joined Scottish side Glasgow Rangers on a permanent deal. The parties have agreed not to disclose terms of the deal.

“Rabbi had a really good season in Belgium, but we told him that we couldn’t keep him here due to financial reasons. He accepted that completely professionally. We wish him all the best both on and off the pitch in the future,” said sporting director Rouven Schröder.

Matondo joined the club in January 2019 from Manchester City and spend the second half of the 2020/21 season on loan at Stoke City. The 21-year-old made a total of 30 Bundesliga games and made two DFB-Pokal appearances for Schalke, while he played 26 games for Cercle Brugge last season, managing nine goals and two assists.
