Rabbi Matondo and Jonas Carls to depart from Mittersill
Two players will leave training camp in Mittersill on Thursday (1st August). Rabbi Matondo picked up an injury over a week ago in a friendly against FC Twente. The Welshman has been unable to return to training due to a slow-healing wound on his foot.

Jonas Carls picked up a ligament injury as well as a bruised bone in his left foot after a hard tackle in Monday’s (29th July) match against FC Bologna. Both Matondo and Carls will return to Gelsenkirchen to undergo treatment.
Ahead of the upcoming doubleheader against Turkish first-division side Alanyaspor on Friday (2nd August at 14:00 CEST) and Spanish side FC Villarreal (18:00 CEST), eight players from the U23s will join in order to strengthen the squad. Joining the Royal Blues will be goalkeeper Krystian Wozniak, as well as seven outfield players: Fatih Candan, Jason Ceka, Christian Eggert, Berkan Firat, Philip Fontein, Jonas Hofmann and Fabian Lübbers.
