Ralf Fährmann, Tim Skarke and Cedric Brunner out for the time being

In the shape of Ralf Fährmann, Tim Skarke and Cedric Brunner, three Royal Blue players had to be substituted due to injury during the 5-2 home win against Hertha BSC.

Fährmann played for just over half an hour before sustaining an adductor injury, while Skarke suffered a deep flesh wound to the ankle after a collision in the first half. He had stitches on Friday evening. Brunner had to leave the pitch having fallen on his shoulder. Further medical examinations are still pending.

Fährmann, Skarke and Brunner won’t be available for the away game against SC Freiburg on Sunday (23/4), in every case it is expected they will be absent for a number of weeks.

We have already showed this season that we can overcome problems and take on setbacks, and we proved on Friday against Hertha that together, we can do it.

Peter Knäbel

“First of all, I wish all those injured a speedy recovery. It’s a great shame that we will be missing them for the time being during our run-in,” said Peter Knäbel, member of the board responsible for sport. We have emphasised again and again that we will need every single player in the squad in our fight to stay up. Alex, Kenan and Jere did really well after coming on and showed that we can rely on them 100%. We have already showed this season that we can overcome problems and take on setbacks, and we proved on Friday against Hertha that together, we can do it. This gives us confidence and strength going into the last six games of the season.”
