Young striker Peter Remmert joins FC Schalke 04

S04 have snapped up another talented forward, with Peter Remmert joining the club on a long-term deal until 2028. The 18-year-old most recently turned out for VfL Osnabrück’s U19’s in the A-Junioren Bundesliga Nord/Nordost.

“Peter has a unique profile as a striker. He has good acceleration and power, and the technical ability necessary to succeed,” said sporting director Marc Wilmots on behalf of the management. “We see great potential in him and want to help him realise it.”

Remmert is looking forward to his future at Schalke. “When I heard about the club’s interest, I didn’t have to think twice about whether I should sign. I know that I still have a long journey ahead of me, but I’m ready to do everything I need to do to take the next steps in my career.”

Last season, the 6’4” attacker scored four goals and provided two assists in eleven games. Before joining Osnabrück, Remmert was at JFV Nordwest.

There will be fresh faces in the Schalke dugout from next season, with Stephan Loboué and Sidney Sam becoming a part of Karel Geraerts' backroom staff. Loboué will take over the role of first team goalkeeping coach, while Sam will act as one of S04’s pitchside assistant coaches. Current assistant coach Tim Smolders, as well as fitness coach Alexander Stork, will continue as part of the coaching team.

Keke Topp joins Werder Bremen

Forward Keke Topp is to leave FC Schalke 04 after agreeing a deal with Bundesliga club SV Werder Bremen. The 20-year-old still had one year remaining on his contract with Schalke. All parties involved have agreed not to disclose the terms of the transfer.
