Ron-Thorben Hoffmann moves on loan to Eintracht Braunschweig
Ron-Thorben Hoffmann has returned to Eintracht Braunschweig for the second half of the season. The 25-year-old has signed a six-month loan deal and will join permanently should they avoid relegation. Hoffmann’s Schalke deal is valid until 30th June 2028. He featured in two league games and one DFB-Pokal match for the Royal Blues in 2024/25.
“Despite his difficult sporting situation over the past few months, Thorben has always given his all for the team, which I really respect. We can understand why he was desperate to play more football in the second half of the season and have therefore found a solution together that also makes sense for the club,” said Youri Mulder, director of professional football.
The 1.92m tall goalkeeper began his career at Hansa Rostock’s academy. After spells with Hertha BSC and RB Leipzig, he joined FC Bayern’s U17s. After playing for several of FCB’s youth sides, he moved abroad to play for Sunderland. Hoffmann signed for Eintracht Braunschweig in summer 2022 before arriving in Gelsenkirchen last summer.
