S04 extend Simon Henzler’s contract until 2024

The Royal Blues have extended goalkeeping coach Simon Henzler’s contract by four years until 30th June 2024.

“Simon Henzler has done a superb job in his role as goalkeeping coach and is held in high esteem by everyone at the club,” said sporting director Jochen Schneider. “He has had a massive impact in the first-rate development of our goalkeepers over the past years.”

“I’m very happy to be able to continue working for this great club, and would like to extend my thanks to the club for their continued faith in me. I’m very proud to be part of the Schalke family,” said Henzler, who celebrated his 43rd birthday on 1st December. The Ravensburg native has been with the club in his current role since 2015. He previously worked as the goalkeeping coach at SC Paderborn (2014-2015).

Henzler ended his playing career in 2011 at then-Regionalliga side Holstein Kiel. He also had previous stints at VfB Stuttgart (1995-1996), FC Wacker Innsbruck (1996-1997), SV Meppen (1997-2000), FC St. Pauli (2000-2002), DSC Arminia Bielefeld (2003) and 1. FC Union Berlin (2003-2004).
