Jakob Sachse signs professional contract and is loaned to Viktoria Köln

FC Schalke 04 have handed striker Jakob Sachse a professional contract. The 19-year-old, who has impressed with strong performances for the club’s U23s this season, has signed a deal valid until 2029. He is now set to be loaned out to third-division side Viktoria Köln.

The loan deal is set to run until the end of the 2025/26 season, with the option to extend it by an additional year if certain clauses are met. Additionally, Schalke retain the option to recall Sachse to Gelsenkirchen when the transfer windows are open.

“Jakob has undergone a strong development since joining our reserves in the summer. He has trained with the first team on several occasions over the last months and has made a strong impression,” said Youri Mulder, S04’s director of professional football. “He is proof of the work that Jakob Fimpel, our U23s head coach, is doing to develop players and help them take the next step in their careers.”

“I want to thank the club for the trust they’ve shown in me. They gave me the opportunity to begin my journey at Schalke last summer. I’m now looking forward to taking up the challenge at Viktoria Köln,” said Sachse, who has had a hand in an impressive 14 goals in 17 league matches so far this season.

The 19-year-old is originally from Leipzig, having come up through the ranks of the RB Leipzig academy, before joining 1. FC Düren in 2024.
