Salif Sané undergoes successful operation
Despite avoiding serious ligament damage in his left knee, Salif Sané will be out for some time. The defender was operated on in the Hessingpark clinic on Monday evening, after suffering the injury in Schalke’s 3-2 away win at FC Augsburg.
Schalke 04’s medical department have given their initial diagnosis on the injury, with surgeon Dr. Ulrich Boenisch describing it as a bucket handle tear of the lateral meniscus in his left knee. Sané was lucky to avoid a serious ligament injury.
Depending on how quickly he recovers, the 29-year-old will be missing for up to three to four months, keeping him out until the second half of the season.
