Schalke 04 and Ralf Fährmann agree new contract terms
The Royal Blues have come to an agreement with goalkeeper Ralf Fährmann to extend his current contract, which was due to run until 2023. Goalkeeper Fährmann agreed to a restructuring of his wages, and the newly agreed contract will now run until the end of the 2024/2025 season.
“Discussions of this kind are usually anything but easy, but these ones were very constructive from the start”, said sporting director Rouven Schröder. “Ralf is aware of the club’s situation, and was ready to help carry us in a new direction in the 2. Bundesliga. We are very thankful to him for this.”
Fährmann is also pleased with the outcome. “Everyone knows how much Schalke means to me. The discussions with Peter Knäbel and Rouven Schröder were very good and I’m pleased to be able to play my part. Above all, however, I want to contribute on the pitch.”

Ralf Fährmann joined the Schalke youth set-up in summer 2003 from Chemnitzer FC. The goalkeeper joined Eintracht Frankfurt for two years in 2009, before returning to S04 in 2011. Since then, Ralle has been a mainstay in the first team squad, with the exception of the 2019/20 season, which was spent on loan at Norwich City and Norwegian side Brann. In total, Fährmann has made 200 Bundesliga appearances, in addition to 18 DFB-Pokal games, 16 Champions League games and 23 appearances in the Europa League for Schalke 04.
