“Discussions of this kind are usually anything but easy, but these ones were very constructive from the start”, said sporting director Rouven Schröder. “Ralf is aware of the club’s situation, and was ready to help carry us in a new direction in the 2. Bundesliga. We are very thankful to him for this.”

Fährmann is also pleased with the outcome. “Everyone knows how much Schalke means to me. The discussions with Peter Knäbel and Rouven Schröder were very good and I’m pleased to be able to play my part. Above all, however, I want to contribute on the pitch.”
