Schalke 04 sign Goncalo Paciencia

The Royal Blues have a new striker! Goncalo Paciencia has signed for FC Schalke 04 on a one-year loan deal from Eintracht Frankfurt. S04 have also agreed an option to buy the forward. The Portuguese attacker will wear the number 18.

“We are pleased that we have managed to complete the signing of Goncalo Paciencia. The combination of physicality and technique is what stands out in his game,” said Head of Sport Jochen Schneider. “Goncalo will make us more dangerous and unpredictable in the final third.”

The centre forward is looking forward to his new challenge: “I can hardly to wait to get going. The conversations with Jochen Schneider and David Wagner were great and they both convinced me of the plans Schalke have.”

Paciencia joined Eintracht Frankfurt in the summer of 2018 from FC Porto. He scored 10 goals in 34 Bundesliga games for the Eagles, as well as five assists. The 26-year-old also played 16 times in the Europa League (1 goal), plus six qualifiers (3 goals). He has played once for Portugal and also represented his nation at various youth levels.

Rouven Schröder will take over as sporting director as of 1st July, and will be responsible for first-team squad planning, scouting and staffing the departments, among other things. Mathias Schober will become the new director of development and the Knappenschmiede with immediate effect, and will have overall responsibility for the academy in this role.

Simon Terodde signs for Schalke 04

The squad-planning task force have completed another bit of business for next season, with Simon Terodde becoming the second player after Mainz’s Danny Latza set to join FC Schalke 04 in the summer. The striker, currently playing for Hamburger SV, has agreed a deal with S04 until the end of the 2021/22 campaign with an option for a further year.
