“Sebastian Rudy has certainly not had an easy year at Schalke. Unfortunately, the 2018/19 season didn’t go the way that Sebastian wanted, neither the way the team or the rest of us were hoping for. When he came to us and told us of his wish to be loaned out to his former club, TSG Hoffenheim, for 11 months, we complied,” says sporting director Jochen Schneider. “We wholeheartedly wish Sebastian a successful season in his old home.”

Rudy played for Hoffenheim from 2010 until 2017, following which he moved to Bayern Munich for one season, before the World Cup 2018 player moved to Schalke last August. The right-footed midfielder has represented the Royal Blues on 21 occasions in the Bundesliga as well as four Champions League appearances and three caps in the DFB-Pokal.
