Peter Remmert sidelined with ankle injury

On Tuesday (12/8), the Royal Blues began their preparations for the DFB-Pokal tie against 1. FC Lokomotive Leipzig with a public training session. Peter Remmert will not be available for selection against the side from Saxony, after picking up an ankle injury in S04’s recent game away at Kaiserslautern.

The timeframe for the forward’s return to action is unknown at this point. Meanwhile, there is a more positive update concerning Ilyes Hamache, who was absent from the squad on Saturday. The 22-year-old completed an individual training session after recovering from illness, while Adrian Gantenbein also worked alone ahead of Sunday’s trip to the Bruno-Plache-Stadion.

Nikola Katic sidelined with concussion – consultation held with DFB

Nikola Katic was diagnosed with a concussion following Friday evening’s match against Hertha BSC (01/08). As is standard in such cases, he spent the night under medical observation but was discharged on Saturday morning (02/08) and allowed to return home. He will not take part in training for the time being and will continue to be monitored by the club’s medical team. FC Schalke 04 wish Nikola a full and speedy recovery.

Schalke 04 sign Hasan Kurucay

FC Schalke 04 have strengthened their defence with the signing of Hasan Kurucay, who joins the Royal Blues on a contract running until 30th June 2027. The 27-year-old spent last season playing for Belgian top-flight side OH Leuven, having previously spent a year and a half at Eintracht Braunschweig. He will wear the number 4 shirt at Schalke.
