Preparations underway for the first home game of 2026

FC Schalke 04 trained in front of their fans on Tuesday afternoon (20/1) as they kicked off preparations for their first home game of the year on Sunday (25/1) against 1. FC Kaiserslautern.

New signing Kevin Müller was in training for the first time after joining the club earlier that day. Anton Donkor has recovered from his recent ankle problem and was able to take part in some of the training session.

Vitalie Becker and Moussa Sylla both trained individually at the start of the new week. After picking up an injury to his left calf in the last game away at Hertha BSC, Adrian Gantenbein is now set for a spell on the sidelines.

Henning Matriciani suffers anterior cruciate ligament tear

Following his substitution in Saturday’s 2-0 friendly against VfL Osnabrück (10/1), Henning Matriciani has been diagnosed with a tear to the anterior cruciate ligament in his left knee. The 25-year-old will undergo surgery next week.
