Christian Gomis set for spell on the sideline

FC Schalke 04 began the week with a public training session, as they prepare for a midweek cup clash with last Friday’s opponents, SV Darmstadt. The Royal Blues will head south to face Darmstadt on Wednesday (29/10) in the second round of this season’s DFB-Pokal.

The Royal Blues will unfortunately have to make the journey south without Christian Gomis, as the forward left the pitch late on during Friday’s (24/10) 1-0 win over Darmstadt with a thigh injury. He is expected to be out of action for the next few weeks.

Vitalie Becker is training individually to begin with this week. The defender has started every single one of Schalke’s competitive fixtures this season.

Anton Donkor, Max Grüger, Luca Podlech, Peter Remmert and Mauro Zalazar are all taking part in today’s training as well. All five took part in the U23’s 3-1 win away at SSVg Velbert in the Regionalliga-West on Saturday.
