Emil Højlund and Luca Podlech return to team training

On Monday, 29th July, two days after their friendly match against Leeds United, FC Schalke 04 began the final week of training ahead of their opening league game against Eintracht Braunschweig. Emil Højlund is back after missing the match against the English side due to a cold. The forward will train alongside his teammates for a significant portion of the session.

Team

Luca Podlech is back in full team training. The goalkeeper, who has been promoted to the first team from the U19s, completed individual sessions last week to manage his workload.

Bryan Lasme (MCL injury) and Amin Younes (knee pain) are also working individually, as is Lino Tempelmann, who has chosen to continue his rehabilitation in Munich.

Højlund in demand, Lasme working individually, Murkin injured

Emil Højlund was a man in demand after his first training session with Schalke on Tuesday (16/7). The new signing from Copenhagen took time to sign autographs and take photos with the fans following his first day at the club. Bryan Lasme was also on the training ground and trained with the ball for the first time in a few days.

Peter Balette completes S04 backroom staff

FC Schalke 04’s backroom staff has been completed just in time for the final phase of pre-season: Peter Balette is set to join Karel Geraerts’ team straight away and will take part in his first training session on Tuesday (16/7). The Belgian is the third new face on the backroom staff after Sidney Sam and Stephan Loboué (goalkeeping coach).

Emil Højlund joins Schalke 04

Striker Emil Højlund has joined FC Schalke 04 from FC Copenhagen. The 19-year-old forward has put pen to paper on a contract until 30th June 2028. The Dane will wear the number 15 for the club.
