“Steven Skrzybski was one of the best players in the Bundesliga 2 last season. We’re delighted he’s chosen to join the club,“ said Domenico Tedesco on the new signing, before adding: “He’s a threat in front of goal, always gives 100% and is a flexible player. He can help us out in lots of positions.”

The transfer is more than just a step up in sporting terms for Steven. “I’ve been a Schalke fan since I was a child,” confessed Skrzybski. “I hope that I can play a part in another successful season. I can’t wait to get going.”

Skrzybski’s footballing career began at SG Stern Kaulsdorf before moving to 1. FC Union Berlin in the winter of 2001 aged eight. There, he has come through the ranks and made his first team debut at 17 years of age in November 2010.

In 136 Bundesliga 2 appearances, he totalled 29 goals with 14 of those coming last season. Those 14 goals meant he was last season’s second top goalscorer in the Bundesliga 2.
