Yevhen Konoplyanka moves to Shakhtar Donetsk

FC Schalke 04 have a deadline-day departure in the form of Yevhen Konoplyanka, who has signed for Shakhtar Donetsk. The 29-year-old Ukrainian’s contract would have expired at the end of this season.

“We are pleased that we were able to help fulfill Yevhen Konoplyanka’s wishes to move back to his home country,” explained sporting director Jochen Schneider. “We would like to thank him for his dedication to Schalke 04 and wish him all the best for his future, both in his career and in his private life.”

The midfielder was signed by the Royal Blues in the 2016/17 season from then UEFA Europa League winners Sevilla. The Ukraine international played 57 Bundesliga games in Schalke colours, scoring six goals. He also made seven appearances in the DFB-Pokal, scoring five goals, and played 14 times in the Europa League, netting twice.
