Mauro Zalazar joins Braga on loan

Mauro Zalazar has been loaned to Braga for the remainder of the 2025/26 season. The midfielder’s contract at FC Schalke 04 is set to run until 30th June 2028.

“Mauro came to us and expressed his wish to be loaned out during the second half of the season. An opportunity to do so has now arisen in Braga,” said Youri Mulder, S04’s director of professional football. “We wish Mauro all the best for his time in Portugal, both on and off the pitch.”

Zalazar joined the Royal Blues as a young prospect from Granada in summer 2024. He has since featured once in both the DFB-Pokal and 2. Bundesliga for the club’s first team. The Uruguay youth international also appeared in 19 games in the Regionalliga West for the Schalke U23s.
