Jochen Schneider on the rest of the training camp in Längenfeld

In compliance with the relevant hygiene procedures, FC Schalke 04 are introducing all necessary protocols to protect against further infections, after a member of the playing staff tested positive for Covid-19. “Our team doctor and hygiene officer Dr. Patrick Ingelfinger is in contact with the relevant public health officer and other officials,” says Jochen Schneider.

In an interview with Schalke TV, the sporting director comments on the current situation. “On late Monday afternoon, our entire delegation, as well as all staff who are working in and have access to our exclusive area of the hotel, underwent testing. We received the results overnight,” explains the 49-year-old. There were no further positive tests.

It was also determined who was in direct contact with the individual who tested positive for Covid-19. Those who had no direct contact with the individual were able to take part in training as normal on Tuesday (25/8) morning. Liaison between Dr. Patrick Ingelfinger and the relevant authorities has determined that the next round of testing must take place on Wednesday (26/8).

“We’ll continue training and intend to play at least one friendly match on Friday at the end of the training camp,” says Schneider. Further information will follow.
