Marvin Pieringer: I’m looking forward to my first game at the VELTINS-Arena

After joining on loan from SC Freiburg a little over a week ago, Marvin Pieringer has already integrated well into the team. The 21-year-old spoke to schalke04.de about his new teammates, his style of play, excitement for a game at the VELTINS-Arena and his shirt number.

Marvin Pieringer on…

…his first few days as a Schalke player:
I’m settling in well, the players and coaches have welcomed me and everyone’s really nice. I feel really comfortable here and I’m looking forward to getting to know the team even more during the training camp.

…his goals:
I want to get the best out of it.  I’ve come here because I trust myself to be able to help the team. I’m certainly motivated; I want to be out on the pitch and will try to give my all in training, from the first to the last minute.

…his playing style:
I always position myself close to the defensive line or move into the spaces in behind. I also think I’m strong in the air. I always try to hold the ball up before finding a teammate.

I can learn something from Simon Terodde in every training session.

…fellow attacker Simon Terodde:
I can learn something from him in every training session. I think we’re similar types of players. Simon is extremely experienced, so I’m trying to watch him every day to learn something. His finishing is unbelievable.

…the atmosphere at the VELTINS-Arena:
The stadium is really impressive. Ahead of my move, I watched a few videos, and of course I’ve also seen S04 games in the past. It’s definitely a dream of mine to play at the VELTINS-Arena as soon as possible – and hopefully soon in front of many fans.

…his shirt number:
I wore the number 21 as a youth player. It was free here, so I chose it. I know that I have big shoes to fill, because Klaas-Jan Huntelaar wore it last.
