Miron Muslic: Making important steps forward in every department
Three friendly matches and a host of training sessions over the past number of days in Stubaital have presented Miron Muslic with the chance to gather some important insights. The Royal Blues head coach is satisfied with the way things went for his team in Austria and, ahead of the trip back to Gelsenkirchen, the 42-year-old spoke about the friendly double-header with SV Wehen Wiesbaden and FC St. Gallen, as well as the training in Neustift and the support from the fans. schalke04.de has rounded up the key outtakes.

Miron Muslic on …
… his analysis of the week in Stubaital:
I am very satisfied with how our training camp went. There was a positive load of work undertaken in the sessions, as well as three satisfactory friendlies. We have been making important steps forward in every department and will continue to work hard on our return over the course of the coming days of training and friendly fixtures, in order to enhance our performance.
… the 3-2 defeat to SV Wehen Wiesbaden:
Friendlies serve as an opportunity to try things out. Therefore, the end result is less significant in my eyes. The 90 minutes were very revealing, and I was able to gain a number of key insights. Peter Remmert really made an impression, for example, scoring a couple of goals to reward his display. Meanwhile, it was also possible to recognise those who still possess some room for improvement for various reasons.
I am very satisfied with how our training camp went. There was a positive load of work undertaken in the sessions, as well as three satisfactory friendlies.
… the 1-0 win against FC St. Gallen:
We played very well in the first half against FC St. Gallen. I knew the team from last season, having faced them with Cercle Brugge in the Conference League. We worked very well both with and without the ball, and a bigger lead at half-time would not have been undeserved. We lacked a bit of energy after the break, but that’s completely normal after the last few days at our training camp. I was pleased by the attitude of the lads, since they realised in the final few minutes that there wasn’t much left to be gained from going forward so they did everything they could to avoid conceding a goal.
… the support from the fans during the training camp:
I can’t quite put into words just how unbelievable I find the backing of our fans. They spurred us on for a week straight, which showed incredible passion. Our Blau-Weiße Nacht then presented a nice chance for us to say thank you for this support and we enjoyed a very pleasant evening together. I am now already looking forward to Schalke Day!
