Royal Blues to face Genk in Benidorm

Schalke have got their first opponents for their winter training camp in Benidorm. During the trip to Costa Blanca (4-12 Janaury 2019), the Royal Blues will face KRC Genk on Friday, 11th January 2019 (15:30 CET).

The current leaders of the Belgian Jupiler Pro League, who are also in the last 32 of the Europa League, also met Schalke at the start of 2018 in Benidorm.

The game, which took place on January 7th, finished 2-1 after goals from Marko Pjaca and Breel Embolo. The game will take place in the Estadio Municipal Guillermo Amor.

First training session in Längenfeld – Schöpfi returns 'home'

The first training session during the training camp has been completed. FC Schalke 04 trained for just over 90 minutes on Friday evening (21/8) at SV Längenfeld’s pitch, which is close to the team hotel the Aqua Dome. The trip to Austria provides a return to Alessandro Schöpf’s former home, having spent five years at SV Längenfeld.

Hard work in Tirol: 28 players travel to Längenfeld

The Royal Blues are starting the second stage of preparations ahead of a demanding 2020/21 season. Head coach David Wagner’s side travel to Längenfeld on Friday (21/8). The squad will take part in their second and final training camp in Austria until 29th August, before the new season gets underway in the middle of September with the first round of the DFB-Pokal.
