Schalke 04 have arrived in Mittersill

Here we go, it’s time for the training camp in Mittersill! Schalke 04 have safely arrived at the Nationalpark Hohe Tauern, with the team bus, which was transporting the 32 players who have travelled to Austria, pulling into the Schloss Mittersill car park at precisely 15:08 CEST.

Apart from two exceptions, the entire first-team squad has come to the training camp. Rabbi Matondo, who is currently in transfer talks with another club and has discussed his situation with the S04 board, is not part of the Mittersill training group. In addition, Florian Flick tested positive for COVID-19 a few days ago and therefore must remain in quarantine. The same applies to assistant coach Beniamino Molinaro.

Gelsenkirchen - Düsseldorf - Munich – Mittersill

First up for S04’s travelling party was a short drive from Gelsenkirchen to Düsseldorf. They then flew to Munich and completed the last stretch of the journey to Mittersill via bus. It’s the sixth time that Schalke have travelled to the Nationalpark Hohe Tauern for their pre-season training camp, so the area is already familiar to several players. Just like in previous years, the team can look forward to the best conditions in which they can lay the foundations for the upcoming Bundesliga season.
