28 players travel to training camp in Mittersill

FC Schalke 04 are once again hosting their pre-season training camp in Mittersill, Austria. For the seventh time, the Royal Blues will head to the Hohe Tauern National Park, where they will spend the next eight days preparing for the 2023/24 season. A total of 28 players have travelled to training camp.

Henning Matriciani joined up with the team shortly before their departure for Austria. The centre-back had enjoyed an extended holiday after having featured in all three group stage games for the Germany U21s at the U21 EUROs last month. Kenan Karaman also travelled with the team after having missed training recently due to a fever. After suffering a broken metatarsal in his foot, Florian Flick has also made the trip to Austria in order to continue his rehabilitation training with the team. Rodrigo Zalazar did not travel due to an ongoing illness.

Also joining them were three players from the club’s U23s: goalkeeper Justin Treichel and defenders Verthomy Boboy and Malik Talabidi. The latter two had previously had the opportunity to see some minutes in both pre-season friendlies against SC Spelle-Venhaus and 1. FC Bocholt.

Several fans are also expected to make the trip to Austria to support the team.
