Bryan Lasme: Happy after the game and happy at Schalke

Bryan Lasme had a home debut to remember on Saturday (05/08), coming on as a 62nd-minute substitute and registering an assist after just eight minutes before scoring his side's final goal in Schalke's 3-0 win over Kaiserslautern.

“It was a good game and I was very happy afterwards,” said Lasme on Schalke’s victory on Saturday night. “It’s fantastic to play in this stadium. The fans pushed me and the team on. You have to give everything in every game and that’s what I did,” said the 24-year-old, who joined the Royal Blues from Arminia Bielefeld ahead of the season.

Lasme said that, alongside his teammates and the coaching staff, he was well prepared for the opposition’s game, adding that his play with the rest of his teammates was improving. Lasme says that he feels comfortable at Schalke, and not only on the pitch. “I like the German league and the country. I’m really happy to be able to play football here,” said the attacker, who moved to Germany from Sochaux in his native France in 2021 and made the Ruhr his second home.

In every game, whether that’s the league or the cup, I want to help my teammates and deliver a good performance

Schalke will look to make it back-to-back wins on Friday when they take on Eintracht Braunschweig in the DFB-Pokal first round (kick off: 20:45 CEST). Lasme knows the opposition well, having recorded a 4-1 win and a 3-3 draw with Bielefeld in their two games against Eintracht last season, scoring in each. Nevertheless, the forward is expecting a tough task. “Braunschweig have a team that runs a lot and never gives up,” said the attacker, who has a very simple aim for the game. “In every game, whether that’s the league or the cup, I want to help my teammates and deliver a good performance.” In an ideal case, that would mean another victory come full time on Friday.
