Key pre-season dates

After winning the 2. Bundesliga and earning promotion back to the Bundesliga, a number of key dates have been confirmed ahead of the 2026/27 season.

Current schedule

3rd/4th July: Pre-season tests

5th July: First training session, open to the fans

11th July: Friendly against FC Gütersloh at Ohlendorf Stadion im Heidewald, 14:00 CEST

18th July: Members’ meeting

19th July: Friendly against FC Erzgebirge Aue at Erzgebirgsstadion, 14:00 CEST

19th July until 26th July: Training camp in Stubaital, Austria

1st August: Friendly against KSV Hessen Kassel at Auestadion, 14:00 CEST

 

All further events and pre-season friendlies will be announced by FC Schalke 04 in the coming weeks.

Thomas Reis: Put things right and come back stronger

S04 relegated after 4-2 defeat in Leipzig

Despite an excellent second half of the season and a committed performance away to RB Leipzig on the final day on Saturday (27/5), FC Schalke 04 were relegated to the second division. The Royal Blues lost 4-2 in Leipzig, even after coming back from 2-0 down to make it 2-2. A point would not have been enough for S04 due to VfL Bochum’s win and VfB Stuttgart’s point.

Thomas Reis: Focusing on ourselves and not other results

Thomas Reis will not be worrying too much about the other results around the grounds on matchday 34 in Leipzig. “We know that we need a good result ourselves,” said the S04 head coach before Saturday’s game (27/5, 15:30 CEST). Schalke go into the final day in 17th place, one point adrift of both 16th (the relegation play-off position) and 15th (safety).

Peter Knäbel: A special kind of energy

FC Schalke 04 face a huge 90 minutes away to RB Leipzig on Saturday (27/5). Peter Knäbel made it clear that everybody at the club still believes relegation can be avoided.
