Looking back positively on a window with 45 transfers

Tuesday evening saw the closing of the summer transfer window in Germany and many major European nations. For Schalke 04, it brings an end to a period which saw a lot of player changes following the club’s relegation to the second division. A total of 30 players have left, some upon expiration of loan deals, some permanently, some have headed out on loan. At the same time, 15 players have come in.

The Deutsche Fußball Liga (DFL) has confirmed the timings for matchdays nine to 15. FC Schalke 04 will play twice on a Friday, twice on a Saturday and twice on a Sunday in this timeframe.

Ko Itakura: The Schalke fans inspired me

Ko Itakura was delighted to walk out onto the VELTINS-Arena pitch for the first time during the 3-1 home win against Fortuna Düsseldorf on Saturday 28th August and very much enjoyed the full-time celebrations with the fans. “The atmosphere is unbelievable. I tried to imagine how it was going to be before the match, and it actually exceeded my expectations,” commented the Japanese defender, who transferred from Manchester City to FC Schalke 04 on loan with an option to buy just one and a half weeks ago.
