FC Schalke 04 were beaten 2-0 by Holstein Kiel on matchday 4 at the VELTINS-Arena. Benedikt Pichler and Shuto Machino scored the goals for the away side on Friday evening (25/8). S04 had Ron Schallenberg sent off in the 39th minute for a foul as the last man.

The visitors finished the game with nine men after having both goalkeeper Andreas Luthe and defender Boris Tomiak sent off.
