Michael Langer signs contract extension and takes on new role

Michael Langer will take on a new role at FC Schalke 04 as coordinator of sporting projects. The former goalkeeper will look after the club’s loan players, coordinate with international partner clubs, engage in goalkeeper scouting and work on further projects. He will report to Maximilian Lüftl, director of scouting and transfers. Langer ended his playing career in summer 2025 after eight seasons at Schalke.

Peter Remmert joins MSV Duisburg on loan

Peter Remmert will spend the next season in the 3. Liga, with FC Schalke 04 agreeing a loan deal with MSV Duisburg until 30th June 2027. The third-tier side do not have an option to buy. The striker made three appearances in the 2. Bundesliga for the Royal Blues last season, while also playing eleven times for the U23s in the Regionalliga West and scoring two goals.

Edin Džeko and Nikola Katic are into the round of 32 at the World Cup in the USA, Canada and Mexico. Bosnia-Herzegovina rounded off Group B with a 3-1 win over Qatar to finish third and, with four other groups guaranteed to have third-placed teams with a worse record, have already qualified as one of the eight best sides.

DFB-Pokal: S04 set for Monday night trip to Halle

The DFB confirmed the kick-off times for all 32 DFB-Pokal first-round ties on Wednesday (24/6). FC Schalke 04 will visit Hallescher FC on Monday, 24th August, with kick-off at 20:45 CEST.

Schalke to transform Berger Feld into an open community space – new experience centre by the VELTINS-Arena to begin with

From training ground to vibrant meeting place: FC Schalke 04 is transforming Berger Feld into an open community space for supporters, local residents and visitors alike. The first visible step in this initiative is the start of construction work on a new experience centre located close to the VELTINS-Arena and Auf Schalke eG tower. At a site visit on Wednesday (24/6), FC Schalke 04 CEO Matthias Tillmann and Sebastian Buntkirchen, director of fan culture and responsible for brand and fan experience, presented the club’s strategic ‘Schalke Experience’ project as well as plans for the long-term development of the space.

Max Lüftl has been appointed to the newly created position of director of scouting and transfers as FC Schalke 04 continue to develop their sporting structure. Frank Baumann and the rest of the board introduced the role to further strengthen and more closely coordinate the key areas of strategic squad planning. Lüftl previously served as head of scouting and transfers.

Captain Edin Džeko starts as Bosnia and Herzegovina beaten by Switzerland

Bosnia and Herzegovina suffered a 4-1 defeat to Switzerland in their second World Cup group game on Thursday evening (18/6). An eventful finish at the SoFi Stadium in Los Angeles saw the match get away from them late on.
