A lot of positives, but no points

After five games unbeaten, FC Schalke suffered defeat on Sunday (20/10) at Hoffenheim. The 2-0 scoreline didn’t however reflect the run of play. The Royal Blues dominated the majority of the game in the PreZero Arena, but failed to take chances and ultimately came away with nothing.

Schalke suffered a 2-0 defeat away against Hoffenheim on Sunday evening. Andrej Kramaric and Ihlas Bebou scored second-half goals for the hosts in Sinsheim.

Suat Serdar: I am incredibly proud of my achievement

As of last week, Suat Serdar can officially call himself a Germany international. The 22-year-old’s debut appearance for his country came in a 2-2 friendly draw with Argentina on 9th October. “It was an amazing experience and it was a lot of fun to be there. I am extremely proud of my achievement,” says Serdar, who also makes sure to thank everyone who “helped [him] on the way to this goal.”

Suat Serdar: We should have seen the win out

Schalke were just seconds away from a fifth straight win in the Bundesliga. Coaches David Wagner and Achim Beierlorzer both agreed that a draw was a fair result. Suat Serdar was frustrated that S04 failed to add a second goal to seal the win. Alexander Nübel also gave his opinion on the frustrating draw.

Köln equalise in last minute to draw 1-1

FC Schalke 04 narrowly missed out on their fifth straight win on Saturday evening (5/10). Suat Serdar gave S04 the lead in the 72nd minute, however Jonas Hector headed home in injury time to rob the hosts of all three points.

Guido Burgstaller: Hungry for the ball

David Wagner was quick to talk about his “lactic-acid junkies” after the Leipzig match. The head coach was keen to find out how far his team had run during the game, and for a good reason: the Royal Blues covered a whopping 124.4 km over the course of the 90 minutes – two kilometres more than RB Leipzig. Guido Burgstaller ran 12.74 km - the farthest of anyone on the pitch.
