Domenico Tedesco: We are really up for the game!

After the 4-1 home win in the DFB-Pokal last 16 against Fortuna Düsseldorf, the Royal Blues will travel to Munich with some new-found belief ahead of Saturday’s game (09/02, 18:30 CET). Convincing performance, but not without disappointments

Seldom this season have the Schalke fans’ feelings been toyed with as much as during the 2-2 draw on Friday (25.01) with Hertha BSC. Schalke led twice, but both times Hertha had an answer. A good game, but unfortunately three players were lost due to injury. As a result a lot of the reactions from the players is a bit deflated.

Tactical change, improved performance – and then a deserved win

After a tactical change the side’s performance improved greatly. After an average first-half display, the Royal Blues stepped up in the second half to beat VfL Wolfsburg 2-1. Switching to a back five from a back four gave the Royal Blues more control of the game and they were more dangerous too. “The second half was a completely different story,” stated head coach Domenico Tedesco.
