Domenico Tedesco: Massive test in our own back yard

All Königsblauen enjoy reminiscing about the last game of last season against Eintracht Frankfurt, where players and fans alike celebrated finishing runners-up in the VELTINS-Arena. After a long 91 day break, die Knappen return to their home ground on Saturday at 16:00 (CEST) to take on Fiorentina. When the game kicks off, a player who took part in those same celebrations in May could be playing on the opposing team.

Schalke’s DFB Pokal season opener versus Schweinfurt scheduled

The DFB announced the schedule for the first round ties in the DFB-Pokal this morning. The Knappen will face 1. FC Schweinfurt 05 on Friday 17th August at 20:45 in the Willy-Sachs-Stadion which holds around 15,000 fans.

1-0 loss to Frankfurt – S04 eliminated in semi-final

Schalke will not be taking part in the DFB-Pokal final. In the semi-final, Domenico Tedesco’s side were beaten 1-0 on Wednesday evening by Eintracht Frankfurt who will reach their second final in two years. Luka Jovic scored the goal that will see them take on FC Bayern Munich in the Olympiastadion in May.

After the final whistle, the Nordkurve serenaded Guido Burgstaller as his strike against Wolfsburg sealed Schalke’s spot in the DFB-Pokal semi-finals. His goal left Christian Heidel gawping: “I have to give him credit. Not many strikers would have managed that.”

Cedric Teuchert: A perfect evening!

Cedric Teuchert made his first competitive appearance in a blue and white jersey on Wednesday (7th February) and celebrated the 1-0 victory over VfL Wolfsburg and progression into the DFB-Pokal semi-finals together with his teammates. “It was a perfect evening for me,” says the U21 Germany international, who was brought on in the 76th minute for Marko Pjaca.
